Short Bio

I'm a Turkish born Spain based artist. I studied art in London. I mainly paint watercolours and have been exhibiting in Spain and abroad since 2018.

Statement

What appeals to me most about painting is the exploration and the rediscovery of the form and the colour of everyday objects that we grow accustomed to and often forget to see with fresh eyes under ever-changing light conditions. Realizing their particular arrangements is a seeing game that I enjoy all through the day. Painting for me, at the same time, is a translation process from a mixture of different languages to a visual one of a particular medium. Working with watercolour is working with transparency and fluidity of water. What attracts me most with watercolour is that it is a live media and it has a mind of its own, so, it’s about letting it loose, understanding it, being friends with it, and following it through what it wants to do.

My main subject of interest in watercolour is the landscape. The force behind my inspiration is nature and light. Although most of my watercolours are impressionist in style, I enjoy developing my ideas in a looser style by adding abstract elements.
